Air Charter Services

When You Need the Entire Plane

Consolidation’s great. Scheduled flights are efficient. But sometimes you need the whole aircraft. Maybe your cargo’s enormous. Maybe you need it yesterday. Maybe a regular flight simply doesn’t exist to where you’re going.

That’s when air charter becomes your only option—and your best option.

We coordinate dedicated aircraft, negotiate rates, manage the complexity, and get your cargo exactly where it needs to be on your schedule. No waiting for consolidation, no scheduled flight delays, no compromises.

Why Charter an Aircraft

Your cargo’s massive: 50 tonnes of machinery. 80 pallets of components. Something oversized that won’t fit in a standard container. Regular aircraft just don’t have the capacity. Charter does.

You need it urgently: Production line’s halted. Emergency replacement equipment needed yesterday. A scheduled flight in three days won’t work. You need next-available departure. Charter gets you there faster.

You’re shipping to somewhere obscure: Remote mining site in Africa. Small airport in Middle East. Developing nation with limited international flights. Charter reaches places scheduled flights never will.

Your timeline’s non-negotiable: Aircraft assembly, pharmaceutical deployment, disaster relief—some operations have hard deadlines. Miss it and you’ve got chaos. Charter guarantees your departure time.

You want complete control: Load what you want, when you want, how you want. No consolidation delays, no other shippers’ schedules interfering with yours. You pay for the entire aircraft; it operates on your terms.

Standard freight’s too slow: Ocean takes weeks. Consolidation takes days. Charter takes hours from booking to departure. Sometimes that difference means everything.

Types of Aircraft We Charter

Medium Freighters (20-40 tonnes)
Cessna Caravans and similar. Best for small urgent shipments where speed matters more than volume. Perfect for emergency parts, urgent samples, time-critical deliveries. Range covers Europe easily, further with refuelling.

Regional Freighters (50-80 tonnes)
Fokker 50, Dornier. Regional operators perfect for mid-range distances and moderate volumes. Cost-effective for European operations. Good payload-to-cost ratio.

Heavy Freighters (60-120 tonnes)
Airbus A300-600F, Boeing 747-400F. The workhorses. Heavy lift capability for major shipments. Intercontinental range. Higher cost but handles massive volumes economically.

Mega Freighters (120+ tonnes)
Airbus A380-800F, Antonov An-124. When you need to move absolutely everything. Oversized cargo like assembled aircraft components, industrial machinery, complete production equipment. Rare to need, but when you do, we can coordinate it.

Specialty Aircraft
Temperature-controlled, pressurised, military-grade—sometimes the cargo demands specific aircraft capability. We’ve got access to specialists.

How Air Charter Costs Work
Honest truth: air charter pricing isn’t simple. It depends on aircraft type, distance, current market rates, positioning costs, and a dozen other factors.

What Actually Moves the Price:

Aircraft type: Larger aircraft cost more per hour to operate but carry more cargo. A Cessna Caravan’s cheaper hourly rate but holds 4 tonnes. A 747’s pricier hourly but holds 120 tonnes. Which one’s actually economical depends on your volume.

Distance: Longer flights cost more. But cost-per-kilogramme often improves because the fixed aircraft cost spreads across more cargo.

Positioning: Is the aircraft already where you need to pick up, or does it need to fly empty to get there? Empty positioning costs get added to your bill. Sometimes flying to a different pick-up point saves money.

Market timing: Peak seasons cost more. Off-peak seasons cost less. Summer’s busy; winter’s cheaper. Oil prices fluctuate; fuel surcharges move accordingly.

Cargo type: Regular freight is standard. Hazmat costs more (special handling). Oversized cargo requiring custom rigging costs more. Temperature control costs more.

Turnaround time: Need the aircraft back in 12 hours? Standard rate. Need it back in 4 hours? Premium rates apply.

Booking notice: Charter with 30 days’ notice? Better rates available. Need it in 48 hours? Emergency rates apply.

Real answer: There’s no fixed charter rate. Get a proper quote based on your specific cargo, distance, timeline, and urgency. We’ll show you actual numbers for your shipment.

The Charter Process

Step 1: Define Your Requirements

Tell us what you’re moving, how much, where from, where to, and when you need it. Oversized? Temperature-controlled? Hazmat? We need to know everything.

Step 2: Aircraft Selection

We recommend the right aircraft type for your cargo. Too small and it doesn’t work. Too large and you’re paying for unused capacity. We find the sweet spot.

Step 3: Availability & Positioning

We check what’s available, where it is, and if positioning makes sense. Sometimes flying to a different origin point saves you money even though it adds a step.

Step 4: Pricing & Terms

We quote the actual cost: aircraft hourly rate, positioning, fuel surcharge, ground handling, insurance. You know exactly what you’re paying and why.

Step 5: You Say Yes

Contract gets signed. You’re booked. The aircraft is yours.

Step 6: We Manage Everything Else

Pickup coordination, loading supervision, weight and balance calculations, crew scheduling, customs clearance, paperwork. We handle the logistics completely.

Step 7: Your Cargo Flies

Departs on your schedule. Arrives on your timeline. You’re in control.

Step 8: Delivery & Handoff

Cargo arrives at destination. Ground handling sorted. Customs cleared. Delivered to your customer or your warehouse.

Real Scenarios

Scenario 1: Production Emergency

Manufacturing facility in the UK needs an emergency component from Japan. It’s Wednesday afternoon. Regular air freight next flight out is Friday. Production’s been halted since Tuesday. Cost of downtime: £50,000+ per day.

Charter a mid-size freighter Wednesday evening. Pickup Thursday morning Japan time. Friday early morning UK arrival. Aircraft dedicated to your cargo. Production restarts Friday afternoon. Lost production: one day instead of three. Charter cost? Less than one day’s downtime.

Scenario 2: Oversized Industrial Equipment

You need to move a 40-tonne piece of manufacturing machinery from Germany to Malaysia. Completely oversized for standard freight containers. Can’t be disassembled. Can’t wait for a scheduled freighter (which doesn’t exist for this route anyway).

Charter a heavy freighter. Direct routing Germany-Malaysia. Specialist loading crew handles the equipment. Arrives ready to install. No dismantling, no damage, no worrying about container constraints.

Scenario 3: Perishable Urgency

Fresh seafood exporter in Iceland has a 20-tonne shipment that needs Tokyo within 36 hours. Temperature-controlled throughout. Regular air freight can’t guarantee temperature consistency. Charter a temperature-controlled freighter. Dedicated cold chain. Precise timing. Product arrives fresh.

Scenario 4: Remote Location Delivery

Mining operation in remote Australia needs 15 tonnes of replacement equipment. No scheduled cargo flights to that region. Equipment needed for restart. You charter a regional freighter. Flies from Brisbane to the remote airstrip. Lands, unloads, back to Brisbane. Gets done. No alternatives exist.

Scenario 5: Disaster Relief

Hurricane hits Caribbean. UK charity needs to deploy 50 tonnes of aid supplies to the affected island immediately. Regular flights? Disrupted. Consolidated freight? Delayed. You charter a heavy freighter. Flies direct with complete supplies. Arrives within 24 hours of charter booking.

When Charter Isn’t the Answer

You’ve got time: Regular air freight or sea freight will work fine and costs less.

Your cargo’s tiny: A 500kg emergency shipment might not justify charter costs. Regular air express might be smarter.

You’re shipping to a major hub: Scheduled freighters to London, Dubai, Singapore, LA etc. are constant. Consolidation’s reliable and cheaper.

Budget’s tight: Charter’s premium-priced for a reason. If cost is primary, consolidation or sea freight probably makes more sense.

We’ll be honest if charter doesn’t make sense for your shipment. Sometimes cheaper options are better. We’re not here to upsell; we’re here to solve your actual problem.

Airbridges Cargo. Your aircraft. Your schedule. Your cargo, our problem.

Questions People Ask About Charter

How quickly can you actually get an aircraft?
Genuine emergency? 24-48 hours typically. Depends on location and aircraft type. We’ve coordinated same-day charter for real emergencies, but that’s rare and expensive. Standard booking: 5-7 days lets us negotiate better rates.
Modern freighters are well-maintained and inspected regularly. Mechanical failures mid-flight are extremely rare. If it happens, backup aircraft get arranged. You’re covered. Insurance applies. Your cargo reaches destination.
Absolutely. If you’ve got regular urgent shipments (3-4 per month), you might actually charter part of an aircraft’s capacity with other shippers. You get dedicated departure, they fill the rest. Cheaper than full charter, more reliable than consolidation.

Technically yes, but it’s usually not economical. Road or rail’s cheaper for domestic. Where charter makes sense domestically: urgent overnight to Scotland or remote location where ground transport takes days.

Standard documentation. Commercial invoice, packing list, origin/destination customs declarations. If hazmat or oversized cargo, additional certifications. We advise what’s required for your specific shipment.
Yeah. You can be present, supervise loading, watch the aircraft get loaded. Some customers do. It’s your cargo; your presence is welcome.
